Varanasi, also known as Benaras, is the holy city of India situated on the banks of river Ganges. Known for its temples, Benaras is not only religious but also pisturesque. Globetrotter Sumyodeep Sett wanted to share a few clicks by him on the Dashashwamedh Ghat and here they are:
In every ghat of Varanasi during the evening time, a special puja is offered to the river Ganga. It is believed that the river is a goddess and thus everyday in the evening the pundits from the temples arrive here to do aarti.
This time of the day is really a feast for the eye as the dark river is illuminated by the flames that are lit to offer prayers to the river.
